Show scene - YEAR 2003

Irish Wolfhound

28.6.2003 Central-Eastern European Show Brno

Andy - Excellent 2, Atlantic - Very Good 3

3.10.2003 IDS Nitra (International Dog Show)

Atlantic - receiving the third award E1 he became a Slovak junior champion!

His victory more than valuable because it was in the face of great competition, including a "fresh" European champion. This way we would like to thank the owner MUDr. I. Kliment and his family for their unusual care and love (you are s dream of every breeder...)

24.5.2003 IDS Litoměřice

Irish Wolfhound

Dogs - young class:

Andy z Netluckých pastvin: E1, CAJC

14. - 15. 5. 2003 IDS Prague

We will remember this exhibition with pleasure for long. Not just for the good results but especially that we could not reproach it for anything.

For the first time the exhibition grounds in Letňany held the IDS and the organisators handled it perfectly. Comfortable and smooth parking, no long queues, the dog check up without waiting, cleaning teams (not only for dog´s excrements). We have never seen anyone to come and ask if we have "anything" to throw away... And mainly - the rings big enough, the carpets and the refreshment stands so important to us ...

In comparison with the WDS in Dortmund we had visited two weeks before (and which will be dealt in a separate article) it was really lovely in Prague ...

Irish Wolfhound

Dogs - young class:
Andy y Netluckých pastvin - Excellent 2, CAJC
Bitches - young class:
Amanda z Netluckých pastvin - Excellent 2
Araya (first exhibition) - very good
Bitches - middle class:
Abby Netluckých pastvin - Excellent 2, res. CAC
(that was a slog! because I was a handler and Abby took it her way ... Simply she entered the ring, wanted to sleep and it took some time to persuade her: Damn, not now! But res CAC and the beautiful reference were worth it.

WDK Club Show, Náměšť n. Oslavou

21. - 22. 6. 2003

It is quite difficult to comment on this show - not to look like: they were "kicked out" with marks Good so they complain ... But I must say ...

As every year the show took place in the beautiful grounds of the castle Náměšť n. Oslavou. It was prepared very carefully with every effort and I think that neither exhibitors nor dogs missed anything.

This year due to the enormous number of enterings for the competition the show lasted two days. Surely it was also caused by the fact that the judge was invited from Ireland - Mrs. K. Kelly. Nobody could miss to have a reference from the judge, who breeds Irish Wolfhounds and, what is more, comes from the original country of the breed.

On Saturday there were dogs and competitions; on Sunday bitches, BOB proclamation and deers (French judge Monsieur Grunheid).

The solemn opening was accompanied by fanfares and historical fencing performance (as well as binding Mrs. Kelly to a tree and then her freeing) and beautiful words of the WDK chairwoman.

Then the judgement in the ring began. The marks in the puppy and young class were just promising ... Everybody could see that Mrs. Kelly would be a strict judge ... but even then I think that the marks took away the breath of many participants. Our breeding station has two representatives in the young class: Andy and Atlantik (they entrusted him to my handling). The class was really numerous and the mark Excellent was given to three dogs only (the others got - Good!). This was the first tricky situation as the cups (very nice I must say) were prepared for the first four individuals. But dogs with Good cannot compete for the cup ... The similar situation occurred in the middle class judgement ... (good luck there is not a date on the cups - they can be used next year).

After the middle class there was quite a long lunch break and then the open class followed. Essex received Excellent (though he was out of standing) which made us really very happy.

In the end of the show there was a competition for the most beautiful couple (about 3:30 p.m.) where we had registered Amanda and Andy. The competition was unexpectedly fast and I must say that if I had come to Náměšť for these three minutes including the line-up of all couples into a ring, I would have rethought my "common sense". Quite dřeply isappointed we got in our car and dashed home. In the evening we watched it on video and doubted seriously if it would be worth showing Amanda the following day.

In the end we decided to take part in the show and for fun and make the day joyful we took our "lady Spaniard" Conchitta (for her to know what to expect).

Amanda´s judging did not really dash and another Good was at home. Even if we counted on it ... So, to finish ...

What judging is concerned I would not like to oppose Mrs. Kelly opinion. Perhaps none of the exhibited dogs at the Club show 2003 is very good, perhaps most dogs have serious defects and that is why they obtained Good, perhaps our breeding standard can be expressed by such marks... It might be so ...

But personally, as a breeder and exhibitor, I cannot cope with this opinion (I have met recently very often): You know, it is not so important in young categories ... Yo know, the dog is very nice, but still too young, it has a lot of time... etc. I think that despite the enormous effort of the committee and the other organizers a lot of people are disappointed... Not because of vanity ... not because they could not bear the mark... What I mean (and not just me)

Youth Class – Dogs
Excellent 3 – Andy z Netluckých pastvin

Youth Class – Bitches

Excellent 1, CAJC - Amanda z Netluckých pastvin

As this show is concerned I cannot resist a remark: you can really have as beautiful a dog as you like but nobody will ever praise it anyway … I mean neither judges nor spectators …

4. 5. 2003 CAC Banská Bystrica

there we were expecting with excitement if Atlantic would succeed in his „hattrick“ and would become a Slovak junior – champion but as usual – everything turned different …

Very good 1 - Atlantic z Netluckých pastvin …
(the victory after all but without CAJC – perhaps next time)

The assembly of young dogs Mladá Boleslav 8. 3. 2003

From the point of view of a breeder the most important event of the year. Of nine possible puppies 8 dogs and bitches from A litter took part. Just one dog was missing – Aspen.

Dogs:

Very promising – Andy, Atlantic
Promising – Alastair, Archie, Argen

Bitches:

Very promising – Abby, Amanda
Promising – Araya

The mark of the promising dogs was lowered because of the light pigment. Personally we positively appreciate that

  • all the dogs and bitches have full dentition
  • all of them have a scissor occlusion
  • all are of a balanced, bold character
  • and more we value: they are huge, stout …

… average height – at the age of 12 months – dogs 89.6 cm and bitches – 83.6 cm

… it´s all about that …

Just for comparison – the average height of the other dogs assembled:
dogs – 85.9 cm
bitches – 78.8 cm

25.8.2002 Croatia

During our holiday in Croatia we had a wonderful chance to visit breeding station of Afghanhounds named DALMARAH, owned by Mr. Tomislav Marinov in Šibenik city. At present there are two very successful representatives of that breed - dog named Tifarah´s Captivating Act (they said Saar) stemmed from one of the best breeding stations in USA and female-dog Alphavilles High Flying (they said Tia), three-times-champion and TOP female-dog in Croatia.

You could see Saar in Brno International Exhibition 2002 in the Czech Republic (excellent one). Unfortunately during our visit in Šibenik he was in USA to finish his champion title.

In a few weeks there should be a new puppies in BS Dalmarah. Father Saar, mother Tia. More info you will find on: www.dalmarah.com.hr.
