| Word Dog Show Dortmund 2003 |
I must admit that the mere duty "to inform" than any pleasure of participating in this event is the reason why I am writing the following lines. A lot has been said and written about this prime world exhibiting efforts but our usual exhibition group (the Růžičkas, P. Landová and the interpreter Jarka and this time even the Kliments) has the feeling that we took part in a completely different event than in that it was so bombastically written about. Unfortunately, our impression is quite opposite. Of course, we were in the right mood after quite good results at our shows and especially after unforgettable exhibition in Paris. So it could seem that our negative impression is caused by marks we obtained: VG.. VG.. VG.. VG.. But that is not so. At the world show we expected especially what our Czech exhibitions lack: large rings, backgrounds for dogs, exhibitors and spectators. And if we add a naively expected correctness in judging the general impression is deeply bellow zero. Perhaps the exhibitors of the other breeds were satisfied but I suppose that sigthounds exhibitors were highly disappointed... The rings located in underground car parks, total lack of place for spectators - even exhibitors crammed around their rings... Bad lighting and line-ups including sometimes more than thirty Irish Wolfhounds in the ring as large as a bigger living room - it really did not make the show spicy. I would not like to write about the correctness of judges in detail, because I could hurt the owners of winning dogs and I could be misunderstood as envious and resentful. On the other hand I cannot save the trouble to remark: French and English exhibitors shouting loudly with disgust: It´s crazy ... stupid at the final competition for the BOB title, the judge routinely going through the catalogue and when finding out that I was filming her she handed it to the assistant and audaciously continued in her activity... etc... The only thing I regret are not the marks VG (after all, very good from the world show is not a failure) but that we did not resign ourselves. Personally I find the judging a big farse for goodly money. After that exhibition we apologised to our dogs and promised that they would never see either Germany or a German judge. (Even if I have to bow to the performance of the judge who evaluated numerous Irish Wolfhounds for several long hours without a break...) We came, we saw and ... never ever industrial Dortmund.. |
