2005 Breeders´ meeting in Moscow
In the very
beginning of this year I ´chose´ a Christmas present
and with my best friend I flew to Moscow to a
friendly-breeding meeting with the kennel owners of
Afghan Hound KAREGEZ (L.+V. Balyk) and the breeder and
judge Helene Alexeyeva.
First I should confess that it was an exceptionally
friendly holiday which enriched my knowledge to an extent
I could not have gained all the years before.
Our talks lasted till late night hours (or early morning
ones) and were, of course, about Afghans and all the
stuff about them.
During the day except for some sightseeing (Moscow is
really wonderful!) I witnessed handlig a dog, bathing,
drying etc. I certainly found Helena´s opinions
interesting – her experience as a judge, rules for
choosing judges in Russia. Despite the fact that nothing
can be fair in any country, my friends could not
understand that it is possible to breed, judge one´s own
dogs and possess one´s own club at the same time! I
could not answer their questions e.g. why you go to such
judges ? or you don´t mind it? Helena personally stated
that if she had been invited to, let´s say, a Cacib
exhibition, five Afghan owners would come at maximum.
Impartial judges are rigorously required. They come to
Russia from all over the world. (e.g. 16.1. Moscow –

Even if many people do not trust and keep distance from
this country, I personally was excited.By incredibly
friendly acceptance, willingness to share their knowledge
with us, by the beauty of the city. What a pity that at
that time there was not an exhibition!
I would like to thank again to Lena+ Valerij Balyk and
Helena Alexeyeva for the beautiful week and I hope I will
be able to pay them back somehow… but I really hesitate
which exhibition I can take them …

On 1st May 2004 after all possible troubles (getting visa and other necessary formalities, long journey, troublesome border crossing) we managed to realize the import of two beautiful unbelievably pleasant dogs - Afghan Hounds - from the breeding kennels Sunnyside (Novorossijsk, Russia). We are pleased to have a 10 month-old bitch Sideshow Alibi (Bel is already a Baby BIS holder), who has become the youngest member of our family. Her brother Silver Sun ´Dancing Shadows (Roger, twice CAJC) moved to the breeding kennels Čínské hedvábí of Mrs. Havlisová. I would like to thank to the breeders Lena and Valerij Balyk for their unusual care, excellent socialization and all their devotion to these wonderful dogs.

We are especially proud of these results because after a long time Amanda managed to "beat the home invincibility" (Even if after the closing date there were brought up dogs against her … I have never seen so many dogs of an only exhibitor in the catalogue supplement …)
There was a much friendlier atmosphere in the ring of molossoid breeds under the baton of unmistakably excellent judge Mr. K. Hořák, who can make an exhibition into a real show - especially for spectators. Such an atmosphere in judging the sighthounds is missing indeed … CAJC again - and as Conchitta says: Again already? Nuissance
